Internationally, this date is a day of celebration for the profession and its promotion. The World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) is the organisation that represents the occupational therapy profession internationally, consisting of 107 national occupational therapy organizations around the world.
The Cyprus Occupational Therapists Association, as a member of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, organizes various activities to celebrate the day.
This year’s World Occupational Therapy Day has the theme “Unity through Community” with the aim of promoting our role in working with other agencies to facilitate the participation and interaction of people in the community. As professionals, we are constantly working with many different groups and populations for the benefit of individuals and the community.
As a profession we are connected to society through the community. Occupational therapists have an important and active role in helping people engage and participate in their community, in any way that makes sense to them.
We work across a wide range of contexts and help people to engage in meaningful activities and projects. This year, our goal is to highlight the value of the occupational therapy profession to honor the outstanding occupational therapists who work every day to promote the role and value of occupational therapy in the community.
