On September 23, 2023, from 10:00-15:00 in the framework of Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) Awareness Day, a public awareness activity is organized by the Cyprus Society of Cardiology and the Nicosia Heart Patients Association at Mall of Cyprus.
FH is a dangerous disease, as it is associated with high levels of LDL “bad” cholesterol and can lead to cardiovascular events even at a young age. The risk of developing coronary heart disease is 20 times greater in patients with FH. Without proper treatment, 50% of men with FH will have a heart attack by age 50, while 30% of women with FH will have a heart attack by age 60.
