Diabetic Foot Awareness Campaign – Prevention and Education

Cyprus Association of Registered Podiatrists
«Care for your feet, walk confidently towards your future»

People with bad control of blood sugar and lipids, or long-term Diabetes, can develop loss of sensation (peripheral neuropathy) or impaired circulation in the lower limb (peripheral vascular disease).

As a result, a small injury, blister, or callus on the feet may go unnoticed, resulting in deep wounds (ulcers) that don’t heal quickly or easily, leading to further infection, gangrene or even amputation.

In Cyprus, about 200 people annually go through lower limb amputation as a result of Diabetes complications. 4 out of 5 amputations can be avoided!

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day on the 14th of November, the Cyprus Association of Registered Podiatrists organizes a Diabetic Foot Awareness Campaign for prevention and education regarding the foot complications of Diabetes, and offers free foot examinations for people with Diabetes.
